“NOT HERE / NOT NOW” is a project developed simultaneously in two cities: Benevento / Berlin. Two cities separated by 1715 kilometers with a B, an E and a N in common.
The project aims to take the opportunity to overlap two incompatible localizations, to work with what is happening just now but not here, and aims to tell here what is not happening right now.
We are constantly in touch with events, with sceneries and with people that are away from here, but at the same time we work through web, we communicate through phone and we look at us through bidimensional pictures. This way we enter worlds that can suggest us both the sense of an illusion both the sense of a compensation. This suspended time and space, it's more than a guesswork, but not exactly an Utopia. it's an Heterotopia.
There are palces which are something like a counter-sites: abandoned or never completed buildings, a ship, a degraded urban area, a shopping mall. A kind of effectively enacted utopia in which the real site are simultaneously represented, contested and inverted.
These places are outside of all places and they are abosolutely different from all the sites that they reflect and speak about.
A utopia is an idea that is not real but represents a perfected version of society that we cannot reach. «Heterotopias disturb and worry, because they break and tangle commonplaces.» (Michel Foucault)
We cross worlds without seeing them.
There are places which represent, contest and invert commonplaces.
There are artworks and words that became experience compressor or crisis space.
There are some people, like us. We, like mirrors, look at the things around, but we are also connected with the whole spaces which we have not yet crossed.
And like space fragment, in the great reserve of the immagination, we tell what we see.
Not here, not now.
